I got to hit 211 with my boy Ross T. this past Saturday. Stiffler flaked, Pebble never even got the message and both completely missed out on one hell of a ride. We tore it up. There's no doubt that I've gotten completely rid of the chicken strips on the F4i. Maybe it's a bit corney to care so much about getting rid of one's chicken strips, but I'm pretty damn proud of that accomplishment. I was never able to get rid of 'em on the SV.
Unfortunately, we don't have any photos or videos, other than one of us pulled over on 66 waiting for a hellish traffic jam to clear up. I was so hot sitting in traffic in my leathers I thought I was going to pass out. So we just pulled over and waited for it to chill a bit.
We did both get hit with some pretty serious speeding tickets on our way home, which sucks, but it could have been worse.

So I'm off to burning man tomorrow, so no riding or posts from me for a week. Not that anyone posts to this blog anymore anyway...

I dig the matched bags in black. And from the rider's POV, the tank looks like a uterus or something else sexual or something.
FEAR THE JACKAL

Well, I guess I finally gave in to the persistent refrain to "get a bike from this decade." And get a bike I did--a Moto Guzzi. With Pebble's able assistance we test road and I bought The JACKAL. She's a beaut. 1100cc sport cruiser. Only 3600 miles on it and at a steal of a price. I'm pretty excited to take it on some long trips.

So here are a few pics. The first 3 are of the actual bike I bought. The last one is of an identical bike w/o the windscreen which actually makes it look more like mine now b/c I've already taken that off.

Update from the weatherman: Looks like rain in the afternoon on Sat.

A morning ride then?

You and FK enjoy yer' tail run...
Exercise? - pah!
Pedaling is for DUI habituals and push-ups are for small boobies.

So I'm heading down to Atlanta with Shana this weekend to see my little guy; yesterday was his 6th birthday!!! Woooo hooooo! Weather is supposed to be glorious there but SHIZZZZA here due to the dynamic vortex couple of Bonnie and Charlie--like they shouldn't have named it Clyde, especially with them occuring together-come on NWS! Where's the humor and metaphor?

Doing a lunch time trail run with the good Father today before leaving town; hey, maybe you guys should actually try excercising.

Too sad about the V Rod but we MUST have a proper Irish wake BEFORE the old girl heads out on her final ride. The SV is going to be sweet when she's all finished. The skull and bones would have been more appropriate for J. however as he's a big Ass Pirate!!! ARRRRGGGGH! MY PRECIOUS CARGO!!!!!...that'd be the hotpants sir?

It's official *sob*... the VRod chapter is over.

No longer will I be caressing its chrome-tit-like headlamp in private moments of tenderness.

No longer will I lovingly polish its flowing aluminum forms.

No longer will I pat its gleaming skin approvingly after dispensing careening cagers.

No longer will I admire the rusty scars laid down on pavement in our lapses into carving mania.

No longer will I go through rolls of paper towel and lube while... umm. nevermind.

My lamented rod is off the the breaker to be chopped up for the highest bidder. A sad ending for sure, but in the final analysis - *merely* another chapter in the book of my favorite machines.

That being said... I am extremely thankful that I am here to grieve the loss of my machine - because as much as I love that machine - I'm not ready to head for the breaker myself!

I will have to ponder, over the cold season, if a Rod replacement is in order, or if I am better suited to another type of machine... In the meantime

VIVA LA SV700! (better dig out my knee pucks again)

above: approximate projected outcome - there is work to be done ;)

All hail the SV700! Go Karl, GOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Took an amaxzing ride out to 211 Saturday with Andy from Catspit. You should click that link, because he spent far more time writing about it than I will. See what I mean?

I CAN smell what the Pebble's cooking. And it is SWEET!

Nice work Mr. P! The new sh*t looks great.

So today consisted of trips to 2 cool bike shops. People must be sick of hearing bike repair stories. I guess I'm the one with the most repairs needed (if you don't count the V-ROD)so maybe that's why I'm always posting them--or more likely I ain't got nothing better to say. Anyway, I went by Cross Roads Cycle today and hung out with Tim and Dennis for a little while. Really good guys. Where else do they offer you a beer and chew of tobacco while you and they work on your bike! The got my persnickety oil leak squared away, but there is still the matter of a kickstand. They couldn't find one so they turned me onto this place in Springfield called Custom Cycles. Some older ZZ Top 1%er looking guys who are all about THE Motor Company.

They appreciated the old School Triumph though and were very nice. Pretty cool shop with some fun parts and accessories for cruisers and standard rides. Don't think you'd find much there for the sportbikes though. Anyway, the main guy running the shop took a look around but they didn't have anything that would work. So the hunt is on. Looking for a stock stand for a 1971 Triumph T25TT. Anybody? Anybody? Well, I've got a few tricks left up my sleeve, but in the meantime, I guess its just going to lean against a wall.
Thx B! Nav is still just for temp stuff... but I'm just tossing stuff up there as I complete it.

Should be complete this weekend with any luck.

A real jack of all trades.

The new blog is funtastic...

Damn...

Rest In Peace SUPAFREAK.

Pebble, you'd better sit down for this one....

Well it's a sad, sad day.
LOS ANGELES (AP) - Funk singer Rick James, best known for the 1981 hit "Super Freak," died Friday, apparently of natural causes, police said.

James, 56, died at 9:45 a.m. at a residence near Universal City, said Officer Esther Reyes, a Police Department spokeswoman.

"He died apparently of natural causes. We learned of his death after responding to a radio call," Reyes said.

After his big hit, James' fame began to fade as he became embroiled in legal problems and health troubles.

James was convicted in 1993 of assaulting two women. The first attack occurred in 1991 when he restrained and burned a young woman with a hot pipe during a cocaine binge at his house in West Hollywood. He was free on bail when the second assault occurred in 1992 in James' hotel room.

James was sentenced to more than two years in state prison.

In 1997, he released a new album, but a year later he suffered a stroke while performing at Denver's Mammoth Events Center, derailing a comeback tour.

In 1998 he also underwent hip replacement surgery.

Triumph of the Triumph

Pebble, nice work on the evolving blog. Very nice. So anyway, the Triumph is about ready so I'm thinking about going to cross roads to pick er up. If you want to give the scoot a rest, you are welcome to borrow it. Just lemme know.
Can you smell what the Pebble's COOKIN'?

Don't be alarmed by the new Exit3dc look... I'm testing it out in the new site framework - stay tuned.

As a man of the cloth... isn't it your duty to steer your flock AWAY from SIN! Egads. I might as well ask you if you'd like to attend the choir boy convention!

That sure would be some fun though... *the bike, not the choir boys* ;)

Dr. Pebble:
If the scoot doesn't work out for you, maybe some two stroke fun would do.
Check 'er out. Looks like something right up your alley. Plus we'd all get the benefit of watching you put it up on one wheel regularly.
